System Requirements

The supported platforms for NIA 2.1 depend on the specific version. Please check the versions page for details.

Windows

1. Download the NIA2 installer
2. Launch the NIA2 installer and follow the on-screen instructions
3. The NIAPC folder will be placed at the root level of your C:\ directory.
4. Launch NIA2 either from the desktop shortcut or open the NIA2PC folder and double-click the NIA2 icon

macOS

1. Download the correct NIA2 .dmg file for your processor (x64 version for Intel and ARM version for Apple Silicon)
2. Double-click the NIA2 .dmg file to mount the disk image
3. Drag the NIA2.1 app icon to your Applications folder
4. Eject the mounted disk image and delete the NIA2 .dmg file
5. Download the latest version of XQuartz from https://www.xquartz.org/
6. Double-click the pkg file to install XQuartz, and follow the on-screen instructions
7. Delete the XQuartz pkg file
8. Open System Settings
9. Search for "App Background Activity" (Under Login Items)
10. Under the "Background App Activity" / "App Background Activity" section, enable XQuartz
11. Restart your computer
12. Double-click NIA2.1 in your Applications folder
13. Accept the security notice that the Application was downloaded from the internet. The application is signed by a registered Apple developer.
